<p>If we are in Arts and Sciences, are we allowed to take a few courses in CSOM? I don’t want to major in anything, just 2-3 finance courses.</p>
<p>Also is it possible to internally transfer to CSOM from A&S as as incoming sophomore external transfer? I know that the last possibility is after first semester of sophomore year, I just wasn’t sure if this was possible as an external transfer.</p>

<p>Dear juicyo : Second part first - yes, it is possible to transfer from CAS to CSOM although very, very (did we say very) few (single digit) transfers ever happen during the course of a single classes four year period. Students should not plan as an incoming transfer in the sophomore year that this will be allowed.</p>
<p>As for taking courses in CSOM, chances are unlikely that you will have free space in your curriculum for two to three finance courses, but you can always express an interest.</p>
<p>Just a footnote to scott’s second point: it also depends on how many AP/IB scores you bring to the table. If you have quite a few, you will be able to place out of many Core requirements and thus, allowing additional electives.</p>
<p>You are allowed to take up to 6 CSOM classes if you are in A&S.</p>
<p>It is difficult to transfer into CSOM from A&S, very few people do it each year. Don’t count on being able to do this.</p>
<p>If you are a non-CSOM student, you can take up to six courses within CSOM. </p>
<p>Theoretically, you should be able to take enough courses for a complete concentration in finance, though it won’t show up on your transcript if you are not in CSOM. A concentration in finance, for example, requires six courses.</p>

<p>It depends. When registering for courses via BC’s Telnet application, there are some courses which may read “Session Restricted” or “Major Restricted”, which connotes that only people who need to take the course are given first priority. You can always ask the professor teaching the course to make room for you, of course, if you are persuasive enough.</p>
<p>Just a caution for the OP: Although an A&S student is permitted to take CSOM classes, it is not easy to get into some of the basic classes since enrollment is limited and priority is rightly given to CSOM students. My son (who is a rising junior in A&S) has had difficulty registering for MA021 (Financial Acctg.), which is a prerequisite for the finance classes he wants to take. He is still hoping to take it this fall, but for now he’s waiting to see if a space opens up, as the instructor will not give him an override until he sees how CSOM enrollment goes.</p>

<p>One option for your S might be go head over to the A&S Dean to request permission to take FinAcct online instead; several colleges offer it, including community colleges. It might just send the appropriate message. :)</p>
