I’m enrolled in A&S, and am interested in using my 6 courses I’m allowed to take in CSOM to concentrate in Finance. Has any one done this or attempted it? How has it gone and what was your experience?

I’m almost positive this is not possible. For one thing, concentrating in finance requires much more than just finance classes. Everyone in CSOM has to fulfill the CSOM core requirements, which include several accounting, information systems, operations, marketing, etc classes. Plus, certain classes are only available to CSOM students. For example, anyone can take a Financial Accounting class, but only CSOM students can register for Basic Finance. You should consult with your academic advisor and/or the CSOM Undergraduate Dean’s office in Fulton 360, but like I said, almost 100% certain this is not possible. I have never heard of it being done.

Ortsac is correct. Entering students in A&S can take up to, I believe, 8 courses now (it used to be up to 6) in CSOM. In some cases, students can register directly. In others, they’ll need to get an override. Any student taking a finance course has to complete Financial Accounting first.
