Question about dropping a non-transferrable class with a W

Hey had a quick question.

I know "W" on transcripts are bad, but if its for a class that is not even UC-Transferrable does it make an impact?

Im currently taking Trigonometry at a CCC, I am planning on just taking the Placement Test to bump myself up into Calc1A already (although i have to wait 2 more month to take it again), so I want to drop the course, cause it doesnt benefit me really.

Will my non-transferrable course even be mentioned in a UC application? For example I took Intermediate Algebra last quarter and got an A+; will that even show anywhere when applying? Will it even show up at all on the list of courses I took to transfer into UCs? And its doesnt apply at all to the UC GPA right?

So having a "W" for a course that isnt even accepted wont affect anything right?

bump bump bump

Some colleges look at your overall GPA. There’s a thread about W’s here so you may wanna check that out.

The application asks you to list everything on your transcripts, the admissions people in theory should thus see it. Unless you have a bunch of Ds on your transcript, having a W on there shouldn’t hurt you at all.

This site kinda makes me laugh, when I see someone that has a spectacular record (some people with their “buffed” GPAs of 4.5, 4.6, etc) panicking over UC Berkeley possibly not accepting them.

But why would you drop the class if it’s so trivial?

lol OP I like your name. It’s from I love you man

i feel i could rather focus my time on studying pre-cal for the placement test, than be in the trig class. I am doing a full schedule, so it would significantly help to not have to worry about another class.

And i didnt know an applicant had to list all their courses, thats a good thing to know. thanks.

Very useful info, I appreciate it.

haha Totes Mcgoats, vintij, haha.

Dude, I suggest u stay in that class. If u need calc, full comprehension of trig is essential. Just take p/np and learn as much as possible.

What did you end up doing JoeBin ? Also, how far along are you in your session/semester?

All the math classes build together and without a trig class Calc 1/2 will be torturous

Haha, even with a trig class, even if you get an A and love it, you’ll get confused by trig in calc, it happens!

The most important thing is to know not just how, but why the formulas in trig exist, and how to use them without trig cards. :)

not true, you don’t really need to know much trig for calc1

cal2 will be absolute hell though. If you don’t have your trig down, plan on repeating calc2
