Question about G-town emails

Hey, I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere/is a stupid question, but I'm curious. I randomly started getting emails from Georgetown a few days ago that inform me of things I'd need to know were I a current student. I applied EA so I'm not confused as to why they have my address, I'm just wondering why I'm getting their emails all of a sudden. I attended a summer program there in July, but if they were going to regularly email me I assume it would have started soon after that.

Do you think they just have my name in the system after reviewing my application? I assume this is a dumb question, and I bet a lot of people are getting these emails. I'm not too concerned, but my mom is definitely wondering...so if you can help me make her quit asking questions, it would be appreciated. :) Thanks.

I don’t know. My son applied EA and isn’t getting any emails. It probably is an error on their side because you were added to an email list for the summer program.

Ah, guess i got deffered…

Oh, I wouldn’t assume anything based off of this…I’m going to go with charlie, it’s probably a random mistake. Just checking to see if this was a widespread thing. Thanks for your responses, hopefully my mom will be satisfied for now.

Good luck with admissions YoPongo :)

Me too! A couple of days ago I started getting emails about construction on campus and a Winterpalooza thing in the Leavey Center open to all current students…I definitely started wondering also.

I guess we’ll know in a few day either way!:)

Did you do a summer program, eaprc12?

Well - there is alwasy a chance at a gap year… meh… 4 years for this.

^^I’m going to try transferring next year if i don’t get in

GOODDDDD no i guess i’m deferred …
but no one around me has been getting any emails from them…?

I have a friend who currently attends Georgetown who didn’t even receive an email similar to the one described…The winterpalooza thing is right there on the main page of the g-town website. Plus, why would they send information like that to a personal email account? I don’t think our personal emails would get put into an email list of what I would presume would just be g-town emails. The two members who claimed to have received emails have only posted in this thread.

Maybe I’m wrong. If you received any emails, or if you didn’t receive emails, it would comfort us all if you guys post!

I haven’t received a single email since the confirmation one… hopefully not a bad sign

Oh dear…this is not a good sign for me. Ha. Ha.
On the brighter side…winter break is almost here!

I’m not getting emails either… Damn

I wouldn’t worry about it. Why? I don’t know, I just wouldn’t.

I’m sorry if this has stressed some of you out…but I’d like to emphasize that I’m sure this doesn’t mean anything. If this was really an indication of acceptance, it would be a strange move on Georgetown’s part. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’re all wonderful, qualified applicants…don’t let this little glitch freak you out.

And I’m not making this up, although I’m not sure how to prove that. I received the email about construction near McDonough, the Winterpalooza, and a pancake study break. But, in any case…it probably doesn’t matter. Good luck to you all, and don’t stress!

If I leave you my email address, would it be possible to forward me one of those emails? I’m just curious…

Looks legit…not sure what this could mean, though.

The email is advertising this: <a href=“Events - Georgetown University”>Events - Georgetown University;

Everyone, you can relax! I forgot to specify in my first post, but I also attended a summer program at Georgetown this past year. This is probably why only YoPongo and I are receiving emails. I’m sure these emails reflect NOTHING on the status of admissions. I think all of this speculation is causing us to go crazy with anxiety. It will be over in a few days though!:)

Exactly! That ends my confusion. Thank you.
