So I already applied priority as a physics major. But i was thinking that I would like to change my major to an engineering field but i kno they are all LEP's. Would it be possible for me to change this if I get accepted or would I have to wait until sophomore year and apply to the school of engineering?

Wait until sophomore year. That’s just the way it is, esp. b/c you applied to a non-LEP major.

ok, thanks.

No, that’s not your only option, actually.

The summer before classes started, my friend switched from biology to engineering to comp sci and then to business. Lol. So he went through a few LEPS - including engineering - without going through the applying process sophomore year.

So, if you change your mind sometime before classes start, and your HS grades/scores were strong enough to initially be admitted to the LEP, probably they will let you switch without waiting and applying.

But my friend was a VERY strong student, into honors/gemstone/got a (small) scholarship/etc., so I doubt they are that lenient with everyone. But it can’t hurt to try!

Last spring, my daughter was also able to change major from non-LEP to business. She did it with someone in business school admissions, I believe, via email. He just looked at her application materials and made the decision to admit her. (Like the previous poster, she was a very strong student honors/Gemstone/scholarship.) I would strongly encourage you to try to get your major changed now, rather than waiting until after freshman year. My impression is that it’s easier to get in now, plus you would have the comfort of knowing that you were in.

Like the prev. posters have said, you can change to a LEP major if your academic portfolio is strong. Many, like me, have average portfolios, so we apply directly to the University.
