Question about my situation regarding my GPA

Basically I did pretty average/bad freshman year and the first half of sophomore year, but I improved a lot for the second half of sophomore year and junior year. Freshman and first half of sophomore, I was getting around 90-93 total averages (weighted), but my 2nd term final sophomore grade was 97, and junior year final grades were 99 and 102.

Basically, 2 grades are put on the transcript for each high school year, so my 6 grades so far (3 years of high school) go like 91, 93, 93, 97, 99, 102, in order from freshman to junior. My entire GPA for whole of high school is only a subpar 95, or about a 3.65 since I was very close to a 96. Could this be explained to colleges and even if so, could it help my predicament? After all, I did improve around 11 points and there's not a whole lot of students in my school who can get in the 100 range. However, colleges do look for consistency and I do not have an extenuating circumstance as an excuse for my poor performance in my early years of high school. And my GPA remains as is, so the whole picture is still out there. How would this look to a top college like NYU and how would it look to an elite college like Cornell? I have "decent" test scores (I'm an ORM), 2270 SAT, 740 USH SAT II, didn't take all the subject tests I need yet, and average extracurriculars.

Define consistent. Continuously increasing is a consistent trend. So you are indeed consistent. At increasing as the content gets harder. Do not worry and do not be so harsh on yourself. Inconsistent is jumping up and down. colleges are well aware of the ages your are in high school and how you can change. They will not reject you for a non-top performance in freshman when your junior results are outstanding and you maintain the top once you reach it. Well done!

Absurd post. There is no poor performance to explain. Using such strong terms to describe your freshman year is insulting to others. You are being ridiculous. Don’t make your kids feel like this!

AN A- IS NOT AN F!

An attitude like yours will prevent you from taking necessary risks and you will be afraid to fail.

Get over it.

You are a senior. You have a transcript. It is what it is. It speaks for itself. You’ve done well. Stop whining. You have a rising trend and competitive stats.

My opinion? You get into NYU and you have a decent shot at Cornell if you did ED. It’s a reach for you and most people in the RD round. I would have said the same thing if your GPA was a 3.9 and you had a 2300.

Stop driving yourself crazy worrying. You are a good student. You will go to a pretty good school. Choose your options carefully and apply.

Don’t have a dream school, have a dream life!

You will get into several of the many colleges that can take you to that dream life.
