Question about over-the-door shoe organizer

Does anyone know if you can hang an over-the-door shoe organizer over the closet door in the dorms? Especially Yosemite and Sierra Madre. I just don’t want to worry about my daughter scratching the door with those hangers. Or not being able to close the door all the way if there isn’t enough clearance on top.

I can’t answer your question, but it made me laugh. I have a boy and he only needs 4 pair of shoes-his regular tennis shoes, work out shoes, flip flops, and one pair of loafer/dressier shoes in case he has to dress up. That’s it! I know with girls it is a completely different situation.

My friend told me that you can’t use one because the doors are too high. She said to get those little hooks you can stick on the back of the door. This is for Sierra Madre (she lived there last year).

CalMom05 ------> LOL. TELL me about it! I had brought home one of those long, narrow canvas shoe holders that you velcro over the closet rod. It holds 10 pairs of shoes. When I told her this, she exclaims, “WHAT?! I need something for more than ten pairs of shoes!!!” Arrrgh.

I really miss those foldable, cardboard shoe organizers. They had little cubbies and you could also use the top for lighter shoes, etc. She still has two in her closet from when she was a child. They don’t make them anymore! Well, I found a metal, collapsible shoe rack at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $9.99. She can use that and the hanging holder. That’s a total of 19 pairs of shoes, for goodness sakes! Frankly, I think she’ll wear flip flops, Uggs and tennis shoes most of the time, anyway. :)

That’s a good idea in case we end up going that route. I’m thinking we might just stick with the other options I found and see how that goes. If she needs more shoes than that, I’m going to have to change her name to Imelda! :)
