Question about part of freshman application

For the college education part (I have taken dual enrollment classes):

-for attendance dates, do I put the ending date as this semester or next semester (which will be my last semester at the CC)?

-for credit hours completed, do I put how many I already have (so that I would not count in this semester because I have not finished classes for this semester)...or do I put in how many college credit hours I will graduate high school with? I want to make sure because the FSU app asked how many were expected.

-and for degree...I plan to graduate with an AA degree in the spring, so do I put in AA? Or none/no degree expected because I don't have it yet.

I'm so confused.

If your are a HS senior and are going to graduate with an AA at the same time, you will, unfortunately, be considered a transfer student and not an incoming FTIC freshman. Of course you want to get that AA and graduate, being able to say that you earned your AA in high school. But UF has cut transfer admissions by 1000, and you will have to be even more competitive to gain admission. This may work against you in acquiring an admission. And you may not hear your decision on 2/15, you may not hear until as late as May or June.

I would talk to your GC to see how knowledgable they are about the AA transfer situation, and decide whether you actually want to complete your degree. If you do not, your courses will still be DE courses than transfer over as credit, but you may actually have a better chance of admission as you will be compared to other HS seniors, and not to all CC transfers. With DE community college credit but not a degree, you will be considered a first time in college (FTIC) freshman with advanced standing (ie nearly a junior). With an AA degree you will be a transfer and not a first time in college student.

Just some food for thought.

I talked with my guidance counselor. She said I will not be considered a transfer student. Transfer students are those that already have their high school diplomas. I do not. I will be a dual-degree graduate. I will have 69 credit hours of classes finished by the time I graduate high school, so there is no reason for me not to go ahead and get the AA as back up.

Website even says:

"Any student who has earned at least 12 semester hours of college credit following graduation from high school is considered a transfer applicant."

Notice the words "following graduation from high school."

I am applying for the summer term at UF. I will not be taking 12 semester hours at a different college after high school graduation. ;)

I understand, but I can give you the NAMES and EMAIL addresses of students who graduated with their AA degree and their HS diploma who were considered transfer students in the last application cycle, 2 of which were accepted and 3 of which were not.

Actually, for privacy reasons, I could ask them if they would contact you.... but what the web site says and what your GC understands to be true has been changing....

One of the students that did gain acceptance with his dual degree was the salutatorian. But on the notification Friday last year he did not get an acceptance. And he finally heard about 10 days later. It had to do with the fact the his application as a dual degree HS senior combined with his desired major caused his application to be considered with other transfer students. Another student did not hear until May. Perhaps they were applying to Limited Access majors, I do not know. But applying as a dual degreed HS senior is changing.

I went to a UCF admissions workshop, and they told me to apply as a freshman. I don't understand why it would be different from UF.

But I guess I will call them anyway.

I know students last year who went to UF with an AA degree...if what you say is true, then why would they say that on the website?

If UF is that retarded, then I don't even want to go there.

On another part of the website:

"Concurrent High School and AA Degrees

Students who will receive their high school diploma and the Associate of Arts degree at the same time should complete the freshman application. You must apply to a specific UF college and major, and you must meet college and major prerequisite course and minimum GPA requirements. "

University of Florida - Admissions

Stop trying to scare me. I am a freshman applicant. lol

Can anyone answer my original questions? :D
