Question about President's Honor Roll

My daughter is a junior at UF and had a 4.0 average while carrying 15 hours last semester. It appears to me she met the requirements for the President's Honor Roll, but has received no official notification or the certificate that is discussed on the Registrar's webpage. Also, I would like a press release to the local paper. This is the first time, so naturally Dad is proud and and would like honor her! Does anyone know if there is an actual certificate and what is done regarding a press release? Thanks for your help!

My son completed his undergrad at UF a few years back with a 4.0 average, and we used to get a certificate in the mail after each semester. I’m not sure if they have changed things, though. Congratulations to you and your daughter!

That must be something new. I graduated from UF many moons ago and made the Presidents Honor Roll many times. No certificates for me! It did show up on my transcript, though.

I was on the Dean’s list last spring (took 12 credits) and it took them about half a semester to email me about it. They haven’t emailed me about the fall yet.

I didn’t get my certificate last year until well into the spring semester, maybe near the very end of February. and even in the summer, by the time I got my certificate, it was already almost July and I had completely forgotten about it.

Also, I don’t think it is a big enough deal that you should send a press release to a newspaper. they just send you a certificate in the mail. it’s not even on fancy paper or signed, if I remember correctly. and I think a surprisingly large number of people can get a 4.0 while carrying 15 credit hours. I know in my small group of friends and associates, I could name like 10 or 15 people who have done it, and it’s not like I hang out with a bunch of nerds who study all the time. unless maybe you live in a very, very small community, then I could understand doing a press release. but I mean a small community.

edit: I just realized that what I wrote was probably not very nice and I downplayed her accomplishment too much. Getting a 4.0 is something you’re right to be proud of, and your daughter worked very hard for those grades. I personally just don’t think it is something to send out to a newspaper. so, again, sorry for sounding so callous about it.

Glasswright, no offense taken at your comment! Thanks to others for your remarks. I appreciate your help. Go Gators!
