So a question regarding college recommendations. I recently interned at a genetics lab at Yale University and am wondering

How my adviser will send the rec for me?

Can I use this recommendation instead of one of the teacher recs?

How much would this rec help me in admissions?

Thanks, any help is appreciated

Anyone want to help? :)

Generally, you can not substitute an advisor’s recommendation for a teacher recommendation. Your advisor’s recommendation would be an additional letter that he or she would send to the schools. It will help if the recommendation is a) glowing and b) specific about what you did and what it shows about you and your potential and c) compares you favorably to the Yale students he or she has worked with (ie, this is the best intern I’ve had the pleasure to work with in the past 5 years…)
