question about senior year grades

So I am VERY worried I will be getting a D in atleast 1 of the last 2 nine weeks in my AP art history class (My teacher is a renowned art history critic and has written books on the subject...so yes it's hard haha).

How prone is FSU to rescinding an acceptance for a D in an AP class?

what if I get a D in both nine weeks?

All my other grades are A's and B's by the way

Try to bring your final grade up to at least a "C" if at all possible. Most likely one low grade in a non-required course for graduation should not cause them to rescind your admission as long as all of your other grades are still good.

Your final transcript will not show your 9 weeks grades, it shows your semester grade. So I'd say, of course study and work to raise up your grade, but if it's pretty much too late to raise your 3rd 9 weeks grade, work to get a good grade for the fourth 9 weeks and do well on your final for the class as well as the AP test. Those are the things that will count in the end.

my art history teacher has written lots of books also (mainly encyclopedias though). who's your teacher, if you don't mind my asking?

I think you will be ok. is all you can do is focus on the final stretch at this point. Most teachers are aware that senior year grades can have a serious impact on a students future. Some teachers (like yours), adopt a strategy of tough grading to keep high school seniors focused on the coursework and not slack off. It is hard for teachers who have a class filled with seniors who have already gotten into college to keep them locked in on the subject.

In the end, I would guess that you will be able to pull out at least a “C”. One thing that is in your control is to speak with your teacher immediately and see if there is any extra assignment you can take on that can help your grade. This will demonstrate to the teacher, that you take his/her class seriously and take your grades seriously. Even if the teacher says no, he/she will be aware that you are concerned. This will help.

Good luck

thanks for the help!

are you sure that the final graduation transcripts only show your final grade and not every nine weeks???? because some people have told me they show each grading period. If they do only show the final grade I will be okay because my other grades are a B and a C

I spoke with my teacher recently and found ways of raising my grade. However, the difficult part is we never do assignments only tests and even those we only get like 5 or 6 of. (Thats where the problem comes into play... i freak out on a test and fail it and im screwed haha (excuse the language))

I'm sure I will be able to get a C for the final grade I was just wondering how hard they are on the fact a student gets a D in their senior year and how easy it is get the acceptance recinded.

I need to go to Florida State! :-P

P.S. LiveLaughLove my teacher is Dr. Earls

I really think you will be fine. Don't worry, be happy :)

!! you're in my class! this is bailey :] haha, small world. we should get a big study group together or something.

FSL, some Florida schools report only the final grade. Some Florida schools report each semester grade independently. If on your report card you see at the end of a semester a grade and 0.5 credit, and then at the end of the term you see another semester grade and a 0.5 credit, (with no average final grade) your transcript will read AP Art History B/D. If you get two semester grades, but at the end you get a final single grade also listed on your report card with a 1.0 credit, your transcript will read AP Art History C. 9 week grades do not apprear (unless you are on 4X4 block scheduling and 9 weeks is actually a full semester. You should be OK, esp if you have an otherwise high GPA and high SAT/ACT scores.

I also have a question about senior grades. I have a C in AP Calc right now and I'm really struggling. My teacher has made these 9 weeks extremely tedious. If I get a D in any 9 weeks but receive a C as my final grade would my application be rescind? AP Calc is an elective in my school... and I already have 23 out of the 24 required graduation credits. Help?

Lavitabassa - I really think you will be fine. Just keep trying your best.

You're not going to have your application rescinded for a couple C's, or even a D. These schools know how much it ****s up your life for them to do that - they only do it in extreme cases. Stop worrying so much.

every year we get these questions, and every year things turn out fine

A my high school the transcripts only showed semester grades, not 9 weeks grades, and as far as I know no high school send a transcript with every 9 weeks grade.

C's are no big deal-there is absolutely no chance of rescinding you acceptance over a C as a grade. (Remember- C is average, not failing!) A single D probably won't kill you either, although a couple of D's and/or F's might.

I mean if you're totally paranoid, just call admissions, I'm sure they'll tell you not to worry about the nine weeks grades and that a C even a D on semester grade will not make them decide to rescind your acceptance. Just do your best and don't feel like you can just give up now because summer is nearing. As long as you keep that in mind your good to go.

This IS a small world Bailey! this is Laura! I had a feeling it would be you if it was anyone from my class! haha are you going to FSU??

ANYWAYS, I spoke to my counselor today and they only show final grades so I should be okay! a LITTLE less stress now...

But I'm definitely going to have to start doing spelling tests and such for extra credit! (bailey you know what I'm talking about! :])

thanks for the answers!

hahah hii! when i thought about it, you were my first guess.

yeah, definitely start doing spelling tests and stuff, they're actually really fun, and it makes you study, even though it doesn't feel like you are.

yeah, i'm going to fsu, i can't wait! lol.

you will deff be ok... i had a friend who is at FSU now that got a D her senior year and they did not revoke her acceptance or anything.

you will be ok =]
