So I submitted my SIR (the online part of it), under the impression that my mom would be able to send in the $100 check within 10 business days. However, she told me a few days ago that she will not be paying it until the 15th of May. I know that it'll cancel my SIR, but does that mean that I can't resubmit it, or can I redo it on the 15th and pay on the spot?

YoungCollegegirl- no, you will not lose your spot. BUT, if you are that worried about it just call the school.

I don’t mean to be rude, but $100? Seriously?

Edit: What I mean is, why not pay the $100 yourself and your mom can pay you back if you are worried.

rpicton- not everyone has $100 to spare at any point in time. I for one am one of those people. My parents had to pay and if they weren’t around I would have had to wait another month or two before I could pay it myself.

Both UCLA/Cal waived my SIR deposit fee…

rpicton: I don’t work, so I’m not really sure how I would randomly find $100 dollars.

KelliC03: Okay, thank you, I was kinda freaking out!

Yunie: Really? How do you get them to do that? Or is it based upon if your application fees were waived?

My EFC was 0 and my application fees were waived for the four campuses I applied to. (: That was probably it, the weird thing is that UCSD required my deposit…lol…

I’ll give you $100 if you write up a formal report for me (organic chem) on the total synthesis of benzilic acid from benzaldehyde and the short synthesis of a diacid (used in gabriel synthesis [used for amine production]).

Don’t remind me about Organic Chem…that’s tomorrow >__<;;

Yunie–my application fee’s were waived too. i wonder if my sir will be… did you know before you submitted it, or did you find out once you submitted it and were not asked to pay?

I had an EFC of 60 bucks, free applications, and didn’t have to pay to SIR, either.

I went shopping with that $100!

evan would you be so kind as to answer my question ^^^. thanks :)

It usually says (Not Required) next to SIR.

ok cool, hopefully mine is waive. thanks for the help

Yeah, what Yunie said! ha ha. it said it wasn’t necessary (a payment) and then you had to submit to make it official.

so if our app fee wasn’t waived, it’s a good chance our SIR won’t be either?

yeah maybe. just go online and check, if it’s waived it’ll show it in red letters.

will do. I got a huge amt of aid, so I’ll be hoping for it to be waived. in between jobs and in debt :(

My EFC is 0 (for good reason–I live with my parents and neither of them are able to work bc my dad is severely disabled)…but my fee wasn’t waived. =/ Would calling help or am I out of luck?

That’s really weird! ): I think you should call the FA office but I think that’s something that’s automatically decided, like the fee waiver. Again, it was only UCLA/Cal who offered to waive the SIR fee, UCSD wanted the moolah.
