Question About Summer Jobs

Hello, I'm new to the forum and thought this was the best place to post my question. I'm in my senior year and I'm thinking about getting a summer job this summer. The problem is, I'm going with my family on a 5-day vacation and I would like to go on a ten-day mission trip with my church. I did this trip for the first time last summer and it was such a great experience, and this is my last year I can go on the trip with my youth group. However, my parents want me to get a job this summer, and I figure that once I'm in college I'll appreciate having some of my own money to spend.

So my question is, do any of you know of a type of summer job that I could get that would allow me to be on vacation for 15 days? I have considered asking the co-worker of my mom if she needs a nanny for her daughter this summer, as I'm pretty sure she does. However, that probably won't pay as well and doesn't qualify for "real job experience." Any ideas please?

Will someone please answer? :)

Can you swim? Take a lifeguard class at your local Y - there is usually a demand for lifeguards if you are in a fairly decent sized cities and they usually work with kids on their commitments.

I know ice cream shops are super flexible(especially dairy queens)
