Question about the "Suggested Deadline"

how crucial is it for ED ppl to meet the "suggest deadline" of october 15th? does it matter a lot or does it not matter? i would appreciate the comments!

I think that's just so you can get an interview.

The deadline is November 1st no matter what, and it's unfair of them to ever hold you at a disadvantage if you turn it in October 15th or November 1st.

i think upenn will still consider turning it in 0ct 15 as showing your interest in the school and that you actually planned ahead rather than procrastinate and turn it in last minute.

I don't really think that matters. And there might be scores of other reasons why someone turned their forms in on nov 1 than a fortnight before. Like in my country, in my specific region, there's a big ten-day long festival that eats into october every year and schools give us our semester break (trimester system) now...so I might be able to submit only way closer to the deadline when my school opens and I can get the paperwork sorted out with them...luckily I did all that a month ago...still the Oct 15th deadline is just so that the filing clerks arent' driven up the wall.

I turned in all of my forms to my guidance counselor on October 1st. He hasn't yet completed his portions of the application. He wasn't aware of the suggested deadline, so I'm a little upset with the miscommunication.

not a big deal. they probably won't even know when you turn it in. i think they just like to get everything in order so that they can start reading asap after nov 1.

Does this "suggested deadline" apply to the whole application or just form 1A? I know most other schools I'm applying to only require a personal information form to begin the interview process.

it's nothing big. dont sweat over it

i got an interview appointment already, and i haven't even turned in my app pt 2 yet. :)

really? hmm havent heard from them yet...

a ton of people don't get interviews no matter when they turn in their applications, so don't worry!

i live in a big city, why wouldn't they schedule an appointment already?

wait, what do you mean app part 1 + 2??
I did the common app + supplement, but you have to turn them in at the same time...

App 1 and 2 applies (ha, pun) to those who used the Penn app (like me), not the Common App. And I have only turned my Part 1 in, is that enough to prompt a query for an interview?
