Hi guys, I was hoping to get some input from any current UT students who might know about the statistics of transfer students.

I currently have accumulated a total of 50 hours from three different schools (UT San Antonio, Austin Community College, and Texas State). It's been my dream to go to UT since I was a kid because my mother is an alum there, and I was choked to death with Longhorns my entire life. But I love Austin and would really like to go to school there.

The only thing is, I know I'm probably not the perfect candidate for admission. But I don't like to let anything stop me from doing something I have the potential to do, so I have applied for the Spring 08 term. My freshman year grades were pretty good (3.6), but my sophomore year grades went down the hole a little bit (2.4). I'm probably going to re-take two classes this upcoming term at State to try to bump those grades up some more, but I'm sure UT will have reviewed my application by then, so I was sure to let them know I would be retaking some classes in my application.

Not sure how much bearing SAT will have at this point, but that wasn't too good either, 1110 on the old format (math/verbal).

The essays I wrote were excellent in my opinion. I went thru about four or five drafts of each one with a former professor of mine here at State, so I'm sure they're as good as can be.

If it means anything as far as chances at admission go, I am white, male, and in-state.

I applied for the College of Liberal Arts as a Government major, and American Studies as a second choice. I hear COLA is the easiest to get into, but I really am pursuing a degree in political science, so I would have been applying to COLA anyway.

Also, how long should it be before I get an acceptance or denial letter? Just curious on that one...everything else in this message is much more important.

Sorry for getting kind of long with this...Thanks.
