Question about transferring?? (esp. cornell & the UCs)

can you only transfer in your junior year to the UCs and cornell, for example? is it not possible to transfer for your sophomore year?

sorry this may sound like a dumb question but i really dont know much about transferring. thanks in advance to those who reply =)

I'm not sure about Cornell, but you can only transfer to the UCs as a junior. You should have 60 UC-transferrable units completed by the spring before you plan to transfer.

Some UCs do admit lower-division transfers, but very rarely. I'd imagine your case would have to be pretty spectacular for that.

its possible to transfer as a sophmore from UCs or CCs to UCs or Cornell. But to go from a CC to them you'd probably have to have a lot of stuff done with AP or something.

I'm transferring as a sophomore to UCI this fall. But as previously mentioned, it is very rare that the UCs do this. In my case and in cases I've seen from several '06 freshman applicants, sophomore admission is mainly based on high school stats (CC grades/units for provisional purposes) and is more or less a deferral. There isn't an actual program to my knowledge that practices otherwise.
