Question About Transferring

I have several questions in regards to transferring, and are some problems/concerns that I am seriously wrestling with right now. I just finished my 1st year at SUNY Binghamton and am currently a Financial Engineering major, and I am trying to determine whether I should transfer. These are some of the questions I would like to have some answer to before I decide.

Basically I should have worked harder in high school, and think I've come a long way in this short year. For the record I college is awesome.

STATS:
College:
Honors Program
GPA: 3.96/4.0
(one A- during pledging<= aka excuse)
EC: Student Government, Fraternity, Volunteer Work, Fundraising for Charity.

High School:
SAT: 1460/1600
Rank: Top 5% in class
AP Exams: Out of 8 AP Exams all 4s and 5s
Orchestra
Basketball Team
Volunteer Work

QUESTIONS:
1) I am aiming to go to a top 10 grad school after graduation, either business of law. Will the reputation of the school have a big impact on admissions? Like obviously a 3.96 from Harvard will beat out a 3.96 from Bing but will it to the extent that I have a significantly reduced shot of gettin into a school?

2) If I plan on working after college, will it affect my job prospects with say a highly reputable/highly compettive firm such as Merrill Lynch's IBanking department?

3) Also, What type of schools should I be looking at to transfer? For example, are any of the ivy leagues or NYU-Stern within my reach?

BOTTOM LINE: Can I get to the same place/end result (grad school and job) from Binghamton as I can from say an Ivy League School?

Thanks a lot in advance for the help. I tried to make the format easy to read but it's 5AM here so I'm sorry if it's confusing, haha.

A lot of people on here say that if you want to have a realistic shot at ibanking, you need to go to a top school. So maybe that answers your second question.

Your high school stats wont carry much weight since you're applying as a sophomore. Just keep that excellent college G.P.A up and keep taking honors courses.

What will you major in if you transfer to an ivy league school? Coz many of them dont offer financial engineering as a major.(?)

hey mainevent,

i sent you a private message. I see that you're new on these boards, so incase you don't already know, look on the top right of the page and you'll see something saying that you have 1 unread message.

Sent a reply to all the PMs.

Yeah basically I figure I'd major in Finance, or Management/Applied Economics, whatever is closest to my major.

I used to think that it was impossible to get into i-banking unless you were from a top school, but recently I found out my friend who goes to Bing had interviews with HSBC, ML, DB, and GS for Investment Banking. So that kind of made me think it was possible.

Like I realize they will not actively recruit students at Bing on campus, but does that mean they will not take students at all from Binghamton University?
