Hi! I’m a junior looking to apply for the Tufts College of Engineering next year. I was planning to take the SAT subject tests in May for Math II and Biology (I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering). However, for the College of Engineering, Tufts requires that you take the subject test for either Chemistry or Physics. I won’t take AP Physics until next year, and I’ve only taken Honors Chemistry, so I don’t feel prepared to take the test. I was planning to do Biology since it ties in with my intended major and I have to take the AP exam this spring anyway. What do you think? Should I self-study for the Chemistry exam?
Would you consider taking the ACT instead? If you take the ACT you don’t need to take subject tests.
Otherwise I think the chemistry exam is your best bet.
I was in the same situation as you, I didn’t realize that I needed Chem or Physics subject for the college of engineering.
I didn’t have time to take either of those test, so I just emailed the admissions office and they said my application would be considered with just Math II and Biology. So you should contact admissions and ask if its okay that you just send Math II and Bio and it shouldn’t hurt you, as I still got in.
@fpsdoug46 Really? Congrats! Thank you :). How do you contact admissions? Also, I’m a junior right now. When should I contact them?
@fpsdoug46 clever… I had the same problem (took AP Bio as a junior so I took the Math II and Bio SAT 2’s) and I think I resolved it by taking the Chem SAT2 during the fall before submitting my ED application. Seems like it should just be the official policy of the engineering school to accept Bio as one of the sciences
