I am very anxious about this and i barely fall in sleep everynight after i know UCLA might rescind ppl who cant keep a high GPA... so this is my story...
when i applied, i have a GPA 3.9, however, this semester i m kinda slack off and the maximum i can get is GPA 3.4 or 3.5... dont know am i screwed or not... sigh... can someone give me some useful advice.. really nervous

I don’t think it is an issue. Are you getting a bunch of c’s or flunking any classes? If not, don’t worry.

when your gpa gets to 2.0 you can worry. the people who run UCLA are educators, they accepted you, they want you! And they want to teach you and help you learn. they’re going to help you, not hurt you.

you have NO worries with a minor slip like that, and btw you’re not alone…I bet 500 to 1000 other UCLA admits are slacking off as well. Your class has 6500 students in it, you’re not the only one.

you’re fine!

First…
@pacheight
thank you so much and i cant even express how eager i want to get into UCLA

a such significant GPA drop is due to my multivariable calclulus class which a class i dont need for either GE requirement or major pre but just want to take it with frd… now i m regret cux i might get a B… if i get a B… my GPA will become 3.56… if C then 3.35… assuming other class i got 3 A and 1 B… but my major pre GPA is still 4.0…

in addition, the major i got accept is a very impact major. Biz Econ… that is the most thing i worry…

So you’re a transfer student?

yes, i am. i m sorry if i forgot to mention about it

to be honest with you, you might be in dangerous grounds (I don’t know the specifics of your grades but as long as you don’t get lower than a C- then I think you’re okay). I knew two friends who were rescinded from LA. Basically they got C-'s for two quarters straight and their GPA dropped too much (one was a social science major and the other one was in engineering)… they made it really clear in their agreement, you have to maintain the current GPA and it can’t drop too much… but I think as long as it’s above 3.0 then I think you’ll beokay. It’s just that you’re major is really impacted so I’m not quite sure. you should call and ask your chances so you’re not so nervous about it.

@stargalaxy
my GPA will definitely above 3.0 but it is consider a drop from 3.9 to 3.5… i called the admission advisor and they couldnt really answer my question with a vauge explanation.

Just a theory, but they probably use this as a tactic to attain a certain enrollment percentage. If too many people enroll, then they rescind the people who’s GPS’s dropped the most. So, the cutoff for recension is probably determined after they look at all of the lowest GPA drops and their enrollment numbers.
