Question about wait lists and discussions that won't let you sign up

Hello,

Is position 4 on a wait list (Physics Lab) good enough to get into a class?

How come some discussion sections (Anth 23) won't let anyone enroll? Does that mean both discussions are open and you just pick a random one?

Thanks

If you cannot sign up for a specific discussion on WebReg, it means you will be signing up for discussion IN class. I know a lot of lower div bio classes do this, and so does Anthro, too, I guess...

physics labs are usually very small so it's a hit and miss. just be sure to have a backup class in case the physics lab doesn't work out. :</p>

So if I end up not making it into that physics lab, can I then (after school starts) change to another lab session or will I not be forced to take the entire class?

And how come, even though the chem 6A discussion I signed up for was full, I still was enrolled without being waitlisted?

And can someone please answer my last question. Thanks.

you can change lab sessions before the first lab starts. but you will have to check since i'm not sure.

and don't know. you are a lucky kid.

How does the waitlist work?

I was 2nd on the waitlist for DOC1, with only 8 people as the limit. The limit is now 12, and I'm still 2nd...
I have since joined another discussion. But that is not cool...

That's jacked up. You should've berated E-Advising about that.

My theory is that they don't let waitlisted people into classes as they add more seats to the classes these few days... I think they want to actually reserve seats for the people that are registering the day they open seats...

Beware0fNerd, that's what I was thinking too.

I think something might be wrong with their system. My friend was first on the waiting list, and as soon as he dropped, there were 7 spots.

I would've just dropped the class and re-added it.

Why would I drop it and re-add it? why would I want to risk not being enrolled? In any case, I don't know how it happened but I'm enrolled for sure right?

I'm a first year, maybe they reserved seats for us?

Is position 2 on a physics lab waitlist good enough to stick with? (24 people in class)

I might've misunderstood what you said, but I thought you meant that you were still position 2 on a waitlist even thugh there were open spots at that very moment.

I'm 12 on psyc >_<

Filabusta, yeah, that is what happened.

Being on the waitlist is so stressful...and we haven't even started school yet!

Well for me, what actually happened was that the class was shown as full when I was signing up, but I got enrolled without being waitlisted.
Also, Tritonlink says that Waitlists are "stopped" during new student enrollment, and that it will resume on the 31st. What does that mean?

That means that it doesn't matter if you are on the waitlist. If there is a spot, someone can register for it and get in, but the waitlisted people are still waitlisted.

ARGH I just can't decide if I should stay at position number 2 or settle with a sucky time. Is it bad to do labs at 6 - 7:50 P.M.? Does anybody have any experiences about the best time to do physics labs?

physics lab times are like lectures; pick them when you wouldn't be falling asleep or whatnot. the lab is only once a week anyway, it's not that painful to do it from 6-8p. if these are 1 series labs, you will get out before 8pm (7-7:30 average if you're good) unless you are extremely meticulous or your group members don't know anything. the data doesn't even matter for the most part.
