question for sbuadmissions

Hi I was looking at Stony Brook's admissions website and I found vague info on interviews. I was just curious how interviews work at SBU for after you have applied. Can I schedual an interview? Thanks a lot!

Students can schedule an interview by calling our office, but interviews are NOT required for admission, and tend to be more informational than evaluative. Unfortunately, we get a lot of applications, and couldn’t possibly interview everyone, especially those who might not be able to make it to campus easily, which is why it’s not really much of a factor in the admissions decision.

That said, if you’re looking to schedule one, please feel free to call.

My son is interested in the BA/MD offered by SBU. He is NJ resident and I assume he can apply. How many seats are there for this and any general criteria or cut off for sAT and gpa?
Thank you.

Minimum consideration for the Scholars for Medicine program – in any of its configurations – is at least a 93 GPA (on a 100-point scale) and a 1350/1600 SAT. (The med school does not consider the ACT.)

Students are considered for the university first, THEN for either the Honors College or WISE, THEN for SfM. It’s the third step in the process, and does NOT in any way affect the student’s admissions decision to either the university and/or any of the other honors programs.

The med school usually interviews about 20 students, and usually takes a class of about seven.
