So we know appoximately 750 folks were asked to be Richmond scholars semi finalists. I assume all of these students will be offered admission. How many other applicants will be offered admission? How many students applied this year? or is it too early to say?

While not URAdmissions (or affiliated with the department), I think the applicants totaled north of 7,500 this year, which is about a 14% increase over last year (and a record for the university). Given the historically desired class size of 750 +/- 15 and our historical yield, I would guess between a 33-38% acceptance rate this year. So, approximately 1,750 - 2,100 students not selected for RS will also be accepted. Last year's freshman class was 802, which was unexpectedly large, so that could result in fewer acceptances, especially if the department feels that our yield will be higher again this year than in the past (which, given the high number of ED's this year, is a strong possibility). Again, these numbers are from my caluclations only.

Another point to think about is that not all RS semi-finalists will actually be accepted to the university. Yes, if you've been selected, you have a terrific shot, but not all of them will be accepted.

well if not all the Scholar semi finalists will be accepted, then what does that say about the 2000 other kids who will be accepted?? Seems like they've picked the cream of the crop in the semi finalists, why wouldn't they ask them to attend?
