I am planning on declaring pre-med, however, I have not been able to decide on a major. I would like to know what major deals most with learning the human body that is offered at UT @ Austin and which college/department is it located? I am soo very interested in it and I just can't put my finger on what major I need. Thanks!

most likely biology, which you would need to be in the college of natural sciences for. If I were you I'd probably apply as undecided in the CNS.

why would i apply as undecided?

because you don't know apparently what sort of science you want to major in.

read the pre-med forum. they all tell you that med schools don't really give a d*** about what your major is, as long as you get a high GPA and MCAT score.

Lots of people are bio majors because 1) they like biology, 2) it's easier to get their pre-reqs fufilled as a bio major, or 3) combination of 1 and 2.

However, obviously you're interested in the human body, so biology or another major in the sciences would be a good option for you.
Try looking at the CNS(college of natural sciences) webpage. They have tons of information about all the different majors.

Is a biology major tough to get a high GPA in at UT? And, what could I do with a biology major if for some reason I couldn't go to med school?

if you're a pre-med, it's always hard to get a good GPA because you're ALWAYS fighting with the other pre-meds just to get that A!

But from what I heard, as long as you work hard enough, and do well, it should be okay.

what to do with a biology major?
biology teacher, researcher in biology, biology professor, work towards developing high-tech biology stuff.........well you should google it!

But remember that about half of the people who apply to med school don't get accepted anywhere. (yes, even those MIT people and HARVARD people may not get in.)

Lots of people apply again, or apply few(or many) years later after they start a different career.

Don't worry about not getting in.

anyway dude, RELAX
you're not even in college yet.
try GETTING IN UNDERGRAD first, unless you have a 2400 SAT score and 4.0 GPA and super worldwide extracurriculars.

Yeah, I know it's BEST to get started early...but not until you actually have an acceptance!!

And many, many people who come in as pre-med end up changing majors or career paths during college.

Heck, even I feel like a nerdy freak for asking questions about med school when I haven't even started college.
