<p>There's no catch. You attach a picture of yourself. It's totally optional. I think that at worst it's one of those "check to see if he/she is actually a minority thing". Being a quarter northern african doesn't make you black, etc, etc...</p>
<p>i used it as another way to "show a part of me" or w/e you wanna say.
i took a photo of me doing something that had to do with my essay and then like put clip art and stuff on it and idk, hopefully they'll see that i've got a sense of humor or something...</p>

<p>hahah- i guess i dont get sarcasm too easy when i can't hear someone's tone of voice...hopefully it helps! but i really have my doubts that columbia takes the "better looking people" over the "average" looking people... like said earlier in the forum, it's probably just so they can put a name with a face.</p>
<p>I kept mine pretty simple, just a head shot of me in a casual button up. I was tempted to do something different, but I realized they would just laugh and toss my application into the fire. I wonder however, if an admissions officers judge the applicants for thier looks...that would just suck for most ppl.</p>
