what is the point of it? Is it just to help you "stand out" in the admissions officer's mind?

If you've met your admissions officer before, it can help them remember you. I've met w/ my regional rep a few times at different events and he recognized me the last time I saw him.

I wouldn't advise pulling any crazy creative stunts w/ your picture, or it can seem gimmicky. An application should stand on its own merits, not a cool picture.

Actually, Columbia's engaging in this underhanded eugenics project with the NIH. They're attempting to churn out an army of bright, attractive people to make this world a better place. I think phase 2 of the project is to eliminate the ugly ones from the gene pool.

So make sure you look good.

lol thats pretty funny ^

I submitted my picture in hopes of wooing them with my charming good looks. ;)

.. kidding. ha
