i just hear that transfer student who admitted as a Biz Econ major have to maintain a aveerge GPA 3.5 on econ 11, 41 and 101 in UCLA in order to get into that Biz Econ major. oterhwise we will be kick out? one question is how hard are those classes is and what is the name of those classes?

Econ 11 and 101 are both called Microeconomic theory i think.

Econ 41 is statistics for economists or something. go to

schedule of classes UCLA to find out.

I would say they are all fairly easy but at the same time, a lot of my friends are getting weeding out of Biz Econ as well.

My 41 professor was Professor Brown and I believe 15% received A- or above.

Econ 11 was Zame…pretty damn hard. Only 10 people out of 270 got A- or above on the midterm. but ultimately i think 10% ~15% got A- Above. Similar story for Econ 101.

mmmwu are you currently in UCLA Biz Econ major? UCLA said you have to maintain 3.5 GPA in order to getinto that major. just wondering if i got B on Econ 11, can i retake the class with a A?

Although I wasn’t in that class, I know that Zame gave out 20-25% A- and above last quarter. There were around 40-50 (out of ~260 people) A type grades.

Mazzocco and Board (Fall 09 Econ 11 professors) gave out somewhat similar grades.

@Bulenight
No you cannot retake the class if you got a C or above.

is there any website beside ratemyprofessor.com that you can read the comment and rating of your professor In UCLA, cux i could barely find a comment in the Economic department. If you guy wont mind to share?

I dont think Zame gave out that many A- or above. I’m too lazy to check myucla but I remember 80 out of 260 got A- above on the final, and around 12 got A- or above on the midterm. The percentage should be below 20% as the midterm weights 25% but no one truly knows.

I’m pre-biz econ now but I’m only 1 class away from declaring. Unless I fail my writing II, I should be okay.

you can check bruinwalk.com to see the ratings for professors.

just wanna ask you did many ppl kick out from Biz Econ becux they didnt fulfill the requirement? cux i m kinda afraid that i cant get A on both class

i have a couple of friends who are switching to regular econ because they didn’t do so well in accounting (I’m not a transfer and neither are they).

I feel most people should be fine…unlike management classes that must have a specific grade distribution, econ courses do not. Many professors are lenient and people who study properly tend to do fine. Students get weeded out of biz econ because of Accounting courses, not econ courses (at least thats how my friends are getting weeded out).

Anyway, go to class, do some homework, start studying 2 days before midterms & finals and you will probably be doing more work than most of the kids. Good luck.

thx for ur advice and now i feel so much better now.
right now i think i need to start to study for micro theory during the summer and stats… i m borrowing my gfrd’s textbook from Davis. but what is the difference between Econ 11 and Econ101. All i know Econ 101 is upper division and 11 is lower. so basically 101 is harder than 11?
