I just realized these past couple of days that I want to apply to Tufts University. Now, their deadline is January 4th.

Obviously, I'd be able to send my SAT scores, submit my app, and complete the supplement all before the 4th, but the problem I have is I am unable to meet with my guidance counselor to send my transcript/recommendations/etc.

If I were to meet with my counselor Monday the 4th, gather all my recs and transcript, and send it in the mail that day, would I meet the deadline? Or does Tufts (or any other college, for that matter) need to have everything at the admissions office on the 4th, no matter what?

Why don’t you call the admissions office directly on Monday the 4th and ask them?

If everything was already submitted in time for the deadline (electronically, I assume) and you’ve already paid the App fee, explain yourself to an admissions rep when you call them, and see if they’ll cut you a break and give you a few more days or a week while the missing part of your application is “en route”.

Maybe the college would set your App aside (“your folder”) until your app is “complete” and then they would start reviewing it … in the meantime, they’d review other Apps that were complete by the stated deadline. The previous poster (limabeans) hints at this same type of thing.

Just my two cents. Sounds a little naive perhaps but who knows, give it a shot. Good luck and yes go ahead and apply.
