Hello everyone,
I am new to this site. I finally decided to create an account and ask this question, since my school and my intended school of transfer are always too busy to answer kind of a complicated question regarding the transfer of units; and I assume many educators/scholars/advisers are on here not because they are getting PAID to do so, but rather they enjoy helping other people.
Let me begin by stating that I currently am a sophomore at Mount San Jacinto Junior College, located in Menifee, California. It is a traditional junior college that has option plan A: For UC students, Option plan B: for CSU students, and Option Plan C: for undecided.
I am searching for some particular answers that are not as simple given my current situation.
First, I have a 4.0 gpa, so grades will not be a problem.
Second, I have a decent resume for my activity transcripts, so I do not see that as a problem either.
Lastly, the only problem I have right now currently is needing to know how the transfer of unit(s) process works within community college to universities.
Cal State University of San Marcos states that the maximum units to transfer are 70 units.
As it stands, by next spring, I will have 74 units completed, that I will need to transfer over. And I know the simple answer is : “Hey dumbo, you can only transfer 74, what is the problem here?”
Please let me explain this situation further, and for reference I am giving you all who are interested in answering my question a reference to the CSU general education plan:
(if you click this link please be sure to click Part B, and you can review my classes).

Now as it holds I will go through all of the areas, then I will ask my final question for you all.

I am a double major in : Mathematics and Economics.
The units overall are 74, and I need to take Area E, and C3 at CSUSM, along with 1 more Spanish class, and C++2.
Question 1: I assume that CSUSM will be okay with the Area E, and C3 class, as it is hard to fit in within 70 units. Do any of you seeing this be a problem?
Question 2: Moreover, notice the second to last class noted as “Pre-Calculus.” This class is a 5-unit class that was a pre-requisite to my calculus class. In my math prep-work, I needed to complete: Calc 1-3, C++1-2, Physics 201, and Chem 101, since Pre-Calculus was technically not a requisite in the prep-work for math is there anyway they will disregard this class, and put me at 69-units? (Note that the quantitative math class for General Area B4 will be College Algebra).
This has been my big question that no one has been able to answer, and I am quite surprised.
Question 3: Last question. Basically, I applied to CSUSM already, and in essence, I did not put 2-3 classes that I will be taking next spring in the application list, I assume this will not matter, because in the spring will CSUSM look at my transcripts and get it certified by my school? I am just wondering this because I do not know how the certification/processes work. Is it really simple and smooth? Because as of right now, it seems more complicated than it should be. Will I be able to pick which units I want to transfer over for each area of concentration? Because I have 1 other course for Area D that I did, but since I am a math and economic major, the economic classes fit well both for my Area D courses.
I must thank all of you to whom reply and give me sound advice. The process as of now has not been the most concise and understandable, but I am sure to get there.
Thank you all,
Shane
