Question

I've posted about this topic before but... I took the SATs again yesterday to try and increase my acceptance chances. I thought I did poorly on the essay, although last time I got the full score. My writing multiple choice and critical reading multiple choice seemed to go very well. I imagine the critical reading will be high 700s and the writing maybe a 700 this time. The thing is, I still did badly on the math. I feel like I improved over the last time I took it ( I took the december test, and I took three SATs in high school). I think the grade might be around 650-670, but I'm still not that satisfied with it. I'm applying to places like Columbia, Harvard, etc. I just don't think my math score is good enough for these places. I tried to study for the test as much as possible, but it seems like your score is largely based on which test you end up getting. I had hoped to get a 700 in the math, so not making that goal is very frustrating. I also seemed to do better on practice tests. My question is: what should I do ? Some people have said to try the ACT, but that is coming up fairly soon I understand and it has different concepts that I don't remember as well. Also, I imagine colleges would frown on taking the SAT a 6th time, but looking at some of the stats of people on here it becomes somewhat discouraging looking at what my scores might be. Any advice ?

Any suggestions ?

hi- I also took the sat yesterday and found that the math was pretty tough.im pretty good at math though- felt pretty pressed for time unfortunately we are not allowed to discuss the questions till the results come out.. tut tut GOOD LUCK ps maybe try the act too- I dont think you can improve on the sat- its all about taking the test well and it changes every time- not worth it-

Thank you for the response lol125,

I had the test with the experimental math. It's not that I think I did terribly it's just not quite where I wanted it to be. I'm not really sure what I should do in this area. I was counting on that test for getting the score I needed.

yip that experimtental math was a little tough- oh well- its my first time taking the sat so we'll just have to see how i did- was counting on over 700 for at least 2 of the sections.. good luck again though
