Hi, i am applying to Stanford SCEA next year and i have a few questions about admission
First off, what does Stanford do in terms of recalculating GPAs
Second, does Stanford consider AP tests and scores in admission, and if so, how would they be submitted

I believe Stanford no longer recalculates GPA. They go by your transcript.

You self-report your AP tests/scores. I suppose Stanford does consider them, but they're not terribly important. You don't send in an official score report unless you're accepted and you decide to attend, in which case you'd want the score report sent so that you can opt out of classes and such.

You will be considered in the context of your school. I'm pretty sure the admissions readers are astute in regards to the classes so they'll know if you've challenged yourself. Besides, I think Stanford does not place that much emphasis on GPA (relative to public schools) as they know that many private schools are very competitive--they, for the most part, are not numbers-driven. Having a 4.7 in an easy school with unduly average standardized test scores will not put you ahead of someone who goes to an infamously competitive school, but has the scores to account for the discrepancy.

Considering that Stanford's average W GPA is a 4.3 or so and the average UW is a 3.8 or so, I'd say Stanford emphasizes GPA quite a bit. However, private schools seem more willing to allow a high SAT to make up for a slightly weak GPA, whereas publics (at least, the top publics) aren't.
