stanford and gpa

My school is a Bit** and they do not incorporate classes taken at community colleges and online classes into the GPA. They also make it so an A- is a 3.7, which hurts alot because my school is tough so you will get alot of A-'s.

Anyways, when i apply to Stanford, will they calculate my GPA using their standards with the college courses and online courses added?

I have a similar issue with college courses. I took two community college courses that have weighted my gpa down at 4.2. Otherwise it would be higher. The admissions office will take this into account, right?

They recalculate your GPA using unweighted 1-4 scale, accademic subjects only in grades 10-12, disregarding all pluses and minuses (A- = A = A+ =4)

Then, why do they ask (even prefer) the high school to give the weighted GPA?

Perhaps they want a weighted GPA because they wanted your rank to be based on your weighted GPA?

The actual GPA number in itself doesn't matter. What matters is the grades you received in individual classes. They won't accept/reject you based on different ways of calculating the GPA so it really doesn't matter how they calculate it. (It does matter that they only look at grades 10-12)

do they actually only look at your academics over 3 years?

hopefully they won't look at other classes...

I really question how extensively they recalculate all this stuff considering they have something like ~ 22,000 applications

so if I have like 2 Bs (1 in soph. yr, and 1 in jr. year) does that mean my GPA is 3.9 or do they take the average of all your grades, in which case I think mine will still be a 4?
