Questions about CSU from friend.

My friend wanted to know his chances at Cal state pomona, fullteron, long beach, San diego state, Fresno state, San jose state, with an eligibility index of 3440, his gpa from sophmore and junior year is a 3.0 and his sat score is 1540, 540 -reading, 510- math, 500- writing. Local CSUs are long beach and fullerton

Intended major? All CSU’s will admit by EI and major.
SJSU is the only CSU that reports their EI thresholds for all majors so I will give you the link so you and your friend can compare their EI.

That said, here is my opinion based on previous year’s thresholds for EI.

SDSU: To be competitive you want an EI of around 3900+ for Local applicant or 4100+ for non-local so a Reach school
CSULB: EI of 3900+, so again another Reach school
CSU Fullerton/CPP: EI of 3700+ Low Reach/High Match depending upon major
CSU Fresno: Match

I don’t think San Diego State is realistic for him at all in any major. Being local will help a lot at Long Beach but hopefully those well versed people will chime in here with more info.

His intended major is Biology. I believe he plans on taking pre medical classes.

3440 EI makes all the schools listed except Fresno unlikely for Bio. CPP allows an alternate major choice - a less competitive major as a back-p could open that door.

I’d add a couple of schools he is highly likely to gain entry - ,aybe San Marcos, Sac and Sonoma.
