I have pretty much decided on FSU from a lack of other options. I have some questions though:
Why does FSU get the most hate from people in the state?
How is FSU's Computer Science program? I have heard that UCF and UF are outstanding, but I didn't get into either school.
How is campus life at FSU?
I will be living in a dorm. From what I understand, most are double rooms. Is there room to put a TV or anything in these rooms?

I never heard that FSU gets the most hate from people. My son actually liked FSU better than UF and UCF because it seemed more friendly. All my contact with the university has been positive. I can’t speak about the computer major…but there is room for a TV in your room. My son has a 26inch flat screen on top of his dresser. He’s able to put his golf clubs in his closet…he stores a lot under his bed because the beds can be put up fairly high. Most students have their own microwaves but my son and his roommate do not as there is one in the kitchen on the floor and he doesn’t use it much. He is in Broward in a suite double with shared bathroom.

Lkr721993,

Please don’t have that attitude, FSU is a GREAT SCHOOL. Congratulations!

I got into UF and UCF but I CHOSE FSU!

Can’t tell you why it’s so hated, I think that’s just peer pressure from Gator lovers, which just might be rooted in jealousy?

I don’t know much about the Computer Science program, I have only taken the required computer class for business majors.

Campus life is great here, there are so many things to do when you’re not in class that I often have to choose between two, and therefore miss out on some activities. There are plenty of things to get involved in.

The dorms can be spacious enough, depending on which one you get into. What’s your housing priority number? The cable outlet is on the same wall as the refrigerator, so most people just put their TV on top. If you have a room with adjustable beds, you can raise the mattress so you have extra room underneath to put additional drawers for storage.

Hate is a strong word. I don’t think FSU gets the most hate from people in the state. I think though, hands down, flat out, UF gets the most “dislike” of any college in Florida. There is something about UF that just gets folk’s hackles up. Maybe it starts at the top at UF with UF President Bernie Machen’s arrogant demeanor that works its way down through the Gator Nation?

;;—GO SEMINOLES;;–>

my son doesn’t have his TV hooked up to cable. he just watches the shows he likes via the internet.

You really don’t have much time to watch TV in college, you’ll be busy doing other things like procrastinating from studying!

tallalassie - i’ll have to get my sporting fix some how(even though the Noles will be a favorite team of mine, they won’t be my only one)

how can i check my number for housing? i just applied for it yesterday for both summer/fall. i haven’t mailed in the form yet or paid the deposit. i know it was bad to wait so long, but i was waiting to see if I got into UCF or UF(both were a no), and I didn’t have money to put down on a nonrefundable deposit. I know that will probably hurt my selection, but I will get over it.

To check for your housing priority number, just go to your housing agreement and it is on the top.

And btw, the fall deposit is refundable minus $50, but the summer deposit is not.

OMG please, you’re not going to be one of those Seminoles for Gators guys are you?!!

Tallalassie, I am thinking he meant he has to watch sports on TV, since you said he wouldn’t have time for TV. At least I hope that’s what he meant!

Either way, once he’s on campus, he will catch “NOLE FEVER”!

not the case, I hate the Gators in all sports as it is. I am from Southern Cal, so I like the USC Trojans, and will want to watch them again next season despite still being ineligible.

i am priority number 0721 for summer. 6314 for fall

Eww, that’s a high Fall number

BUT…plenty of people with lower numbers WILL NOT attend FSU.

And there’s always reassignment requests IF you don’t like where they put you!

Summer will not be a problem, all dorms they use are nice!

do I have to do anything special for Reynolds in the summer? I know there is some wellness thing during fall/spring, and I have no idea what it is, but I didn’t see a mention about it for summer.

I don’t think so, but I’m not sure. Just like you don’t need a meal plan in summer, and Jennie is co-ed in summer, I think the rules change.

And the Reynolds agreement basically states that you won’t drink or do drugs either in your room or ANYWHERE else while you live there.

Reynolds is not a wellness dorm for summer, at least not in the past.
