Hello, I'm a freshman at high school right now. I know big competitions like Intel and other things like that can greatly increase your college chances. I'd really like to go to college to get a degree in Computer Science but I know it's very competitive at the schools that I want to apply to in the future. Are there any competitions or programs that can help show my love for programming? Also, what are the biggest things that colleges look at when I'm applying for something so competitive? Hope this is not a daunting task as I'm looking forward to hearing feedback.

First, I would say grades and test scores are the most important.
Awards at competitions or on tests could definitely bolster your academic achievements.
Then probably the Extracurriculars such as sports, community service, etc.
College essays can also be a great factor to some schools.

Well I have perfect grades and will probably keep them throughout high school. I do a lot of community service as well. I don’t know what to do for extracurriculars, though. The only sport I play is baseball and there’s very few clubs that are interesting that I know of.

i have been on this site for all of five minutes but after seeing the name mumanizer… i think it is time to get off

create a computer science or robotics club at your school. Get involved in the international olympiads for computer science or programming.
