First of all, is there a difference between Admit Day and Orientation? If so, what are they?

Secondly, when are they and has anyone received any emails about them? I got accepted and I got my letter but I haven't really heard anything about either of them. Do I need to send in my SIR first?

Lastly, before I got admitted, I got invited to a tour of the engineering department on April 11th. Is this still going on? I didn't get any other info or contact from UCLA after I RSVP'd for this. Is this the same as admit day?

Admit Day is a one day program where they convince you to come to UCLA. You do not have to commit to enrolling in UCLA at this point, and this is their plan to convince you to do so. This is held in April, I believe. Orientation, on the other hand, is helping students who are committed to enrolling to transition into UCLA by introducing them to the inner workings of the school by familiarizing students with the campus, its details, enrolling for fall quarter classes, etc. Orientation, held from July to late August, is 90% mandatory (they say it’s not COMPLETELY mandatory, but you get screwed over if you don’t go), while Admit Day is completely optional.

Admit day, no SIR needed because no commitment is needed. Orientation email should come by June, AFTER you’ve submitted SIR.

Not an engineer or a prospective student, can’t help you with the last one.
