Junior in high school here, looking into a couple of different colleges and I have a few questions for anyone who goes to SD State or knows enough about it?

How is the communications departments?

Housing…How are the dorms? Should I live on campus, or should I rent a place off campus with other people?

What is the surroundings like…not only on the campus, but around San Diego ?

Social life…What do you do if you don’t know anyone?

Academic load? Hard, medium, or easy?

Not to be pushy or anything, but any answers?

while im planning on attending SDSU in the fall, i have visited it and i do have several good friends who have been going for the past two years so i will try to answer you the best i can.

not really sure to be honest

the dorms over their are pretty nice. you can get single rooms or double (with a roomate) and the ones i stayed at were suite style meaning 6 rooms branched off a living room and a small kitchen. also, 3 rooms at each end of the suite shared a bathroom. as for staying on campus, the college recommends that freshman live on campus because it will provide you with a great place to forge new relationships among the students. also, its just a great way to familiarize yourself with the college environment.

if you have never been to san diego, i suggest you check it out. the city is gorgeous with absolutely beautiful beaches. the city as a whole is clean and well kept. the campus as well is very nice and well maintained.

for social life, as i said before, living in dorms will really help you meet a ton of new people. another way to meet people is join a frat/sorority where you have the potential to create lifelong friendships. ofcourse, there are tons of parties as well if thats your preferred way of meeting people.

depends on major but as a communications major, im sure it wouldnt be too difficult

hope that helps
