Hey,guys. i am planning to transfer to UCLA or Cal in next fall. I know they only look at my grades by this fall. How about i couldn't finish all the major prereq's by fall? Does it matter??
In other words, if someone finished all of them by this fall and got the same GPA, does him get a better chance to be admitted??

Well, it shouldn't make a difference as long as they're completed by spring, but the admissions readers are people so I personally think that an applicant who has already completed the prereqs with great grades is in a better position than someone who hasn't.

yeah, i wouldnt hold off more than 1 major req for spring. and make sure u dont slack off that spring. i learned the hard way.

how do you think that applies to high-unit majors such as engineering where you are practically forced to take a lot of your pre-req's during winter and spring after applying?

you make a good point. im sure u'll be fine. email your UCLA regional counselor and tell them what ure scenario is.

I didn't get into UCSD engineering because they said I was taking too many of my prerequisites in the spring, which was like 4 classes. But I got into LA for engineering. I guess it depends on the school.

What happens if your community college doesnt offer those major prereqs till Spring? For instance, I'm entering the Fall with 26/60 credits under my belt with the intent to get into UCLA. I plan on taking a full-load of 21/60 in the Fall (total = 47/60). In the spring, there are 2 Political science pre-reqs that are only offered then. To make matters worse, I'll be taking a final Honors course (that would complete TAP) plus Statistics (which even though Assist.org doesnt say is required, seems to be a major prereq for political science).

i dont think it matters. my friend got in to UCLA taking 3 pre-reqs during spring

Yesterday, I asked the UCB's representative the same question, she just said she didn't know that. who knows the exactly answer from any official source?

What if you're taking four classes your last spring and all of them are prereqs? Will this be looked down upon heavily by UCLA?

I had only one prereq done by fall quarter.

spring quarter, i was finishing up the series for two, and hadn't even started the series for my two other prereqs.

so in theory, i had 80% of my prereqs done by the end of spring before i was going to transfer.

i got into Cal and UCSD. so don't worry. as long as you intend to take them and REALLY do, then you should be fine. but don't slack off.

My friend got accepted to UCLA and is taking two prereq's in the summer! So, it really varies for each school.

I got accepted to UCLA, UCB, and UCD when I took two or three required classes in the Spring semester for an engineering major :) Try not to jam everything in the Spring if you can.. especially if you are using quarter system (because they don't know if you will really complete and succeed in those classes). However, I have completed all other required classes (other than the two or three classes) that could be taken in my community college before the Spring.. So.. Good luck! :)
