Some CCers reported to receive USC university scholarship for the amount of $2500 or $4000. Here are the questions:

1) What is the USC university scholarship?
2) Is it rewarded to trustee or presidential scholars?
3) Does it have anything to do with whether you submitted financial aid application?
4) Does it have anything to do with when you accepted USC admission?
5) When does this award appear in your oasis account, if at all?

Uh, I got it and I’m a prez scholar. Submitted my financial aid on time except for tax stuff. Haven’t accepted USC admission yet, but probably will. Don’t know what an Oasis Account is… Oh and the scholarship was 4k.

A couple years ago, several of the students on CC reported getting the $4k University Scholarship, and then it was reduced to $2500 once the University finished awarding presidential and trustee. (This was my son’s experience). So at least then, we figured out it was capped at 2500 if you had trustee or pres. It seemed to be closely related to stats, not need, and there was not a special application. My son did apply for financial aid, but I believe others who did not received the Univ. Schol as well.

^^Just one more reason our family loves USC. The University scholarship (our son receives $2500/year like FauxNom’s son) equals another $10,000 saved on college expenses in addition to the merit awards he already receives. For those who get $4000/year, it is a nice $16,000. Every little bit helps.

My son has already committed to USC and there is no turning back (lol). He has also selected USC as his first choice school for National Merit Finalist Scholarship. Now we are officially part of the great Trojan family.

He has not yet received the university scholarship, but we are already very appreciative of USC’s generous trustee scholarship. If he gets the university scholarship, great, but if not, we are already very happy with what we have. Thanks USC!

At last night’s spring concert (my son played a solo concerto) at my son’s high school, several families inquired about the USC and where my son is going for college. We took the opportunity and did a little promotion for USC and hopefully there will be more students applying and going to USC from my son’s high school next year.

My daughter got an extra $2500. She is a Dean’s scholarship recipient from back in January but we assumed the extra $2500 was for TO as she got the extra scholarship shortly after she found out about her acceptance in to TO (March 31). She has committed to USC (SCA) and we are thrilled for her. And as madbean said…the extra $10,000 was a great help and really validated all her hard work.

Midwestdad - you know he’ll be getting an extra $1000 per year for National Merit, right? Like Madbean, I am one extremely grateful mother! USC has given my son tremendous $, amazing peers, and a first-rate education.

I was curious about this as well, so thanks to everyone who responded! I was looking at past threads on CC about this scholarship, and it seemed like it appeared in the FA package randomly in late April for most. I just received my package today, and there was no mention of a University Scholarship (I was awarded the Presidential scholarship, by the way). Since it’s already late April, is it safe to say that this scholarship will probably never show up? Or is it possible for it to show up after I submit my SIR? I haven’t done that quite yet.
