Questions

Okay, so I got rejected ED2- but I have a few questions, mainly because I'm having some trouble understanding why I was rejected- I have the grades, SATs and EC's according to their website. I didn't fill out FASFA, because I didn't need any aid. Could this have hurt me? Also, if you're rejected ED2 is it an option to reaply RD? Also, does Vandy accept petitions if the FASFA reason is legit? I know I'm pulling at straws here, by my GC is a ditz and I need advidce before I give up. Thanks.

Still awaiting response from school for ED2- i think that's it if you were rejected and not deferred. BTW- What were your grades and SATs if I may ask?

Sure. SAT 2030, 3.6 UW at all girls private (took many college level and AP classes), Editor In Chief of my student Newspaper, on student council, speech team, lacrosee player, lots and lots of community service (head of a community service project), plus many other leadership positions in various organizations. I was full pay. My GC told me I was in- I spose my GPA is a little low and my SATs aren't amazing, but both are in the range 'advertised' on the Vandy website. I visited like 6 times, literally. I guess I'm more ****ed that my GC told me I was in and not so much. Good luck to you though.

I'm beginning to think that it's a case of random selection this year and the next few due to the echo baby boom and the sheer number of people applying. Some of the people I'm hearing rejected just don't make sense.

You definitely have it all and hopefully have a fall back plan ready to go.

Good luck!

Sorry, but if Vanderbilt wanted to consider you for regular decision, I believe you would have been deferred, not rejected. Don't think you can really RD at this point, but you could always ask.
Also, your guidance counselor had no right to indicate "you're in". That is inexcusable on his/her part. Of course there is no way for one to know. I have read horror stories from the parent's threads last year about a student with exceptional stats--SAT (old) in the high 1500's, strong EC, awards at the state level, great recs, etc. (no insult intended, but sounded much stronger than yours) that didn't get in anywhere he applied and didn't have a safe school as a back up, so he had to sit out a year and reapply for college later. Lesson learned.

You have a lot going for you so don't get discouraged. You will find a good fit somewhere. Good luck.
