Quick Admission questions

Hey,

Need some quick replies... The Dartmouth Admissions website isn't very clear to me, and seems to contradict itself on some topics.

1) Does Dartmouth take the cumulative scores for SAT I? In other words, do they take the best score in each section from two or more SAT I's you took, and then combine them for your best cumulative score? Or do they take the best score at one-sitting? (couldn't find something that directly addressed this)

2) For ED, does it need to be received by November 1st, or postmarked?
if it needs to be received, does this include an entire completed app: all components of the application, such as teacher recs/SAT?

3) I'm confused about the way they look at SAT II's (<a href="http://www.dartmouth.edu/apply/admissions/testing.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.dartmouth.edu/apply/admissions/testing.html</a>)
"What if I submit more than the required number of SAT II exam scores?

We will use your highest two SAT II exam scores.

Will Dartmouth accept scores from the SAT II Writing exam?

Yes, if the SAT II Writing exam score is one of the applicant’s highest SAT II scores."
Does this mean that they will use the writing section from your SAT I as an SAT II score? Or did that refer to just the old sat II writing exam?

Sorry to bug you all... would call but they already closed

thanks

I believe Dartmouth takes the best cumulative score, I think they super score the test. I am not sure about the early decision application I believe it just needs to be postmarked by November 1. Don't quote me on this, though. Regarding the SAT, say that you took three subject tests and you scored 500, 780, and 800. They would only consider the 780 score and the 800 score in your admissions decision. Im glad they do this, because I have scores of 760, 730, and the 600. Good thing they don't count the 600. Good luck!

ummm, that website is two years out of date, since it was originally written for applicants to the class of 2006, i..e, the SAT "transition year"; the SAT II Writing test was no longer offered as of January 2006.

But, your ED app must be postmarked by Nov 1. While teacher & GC recs can arrive shortly thereafter, your app will wait until they do. Yes, Dartmouth combines SAT scores from different tests, accepting the highest individual test scores from any sitting. Do not know whether the SAT I Writing score can substitute for a Subject Test score, however, and whether the site is just way out of date.

since most of this is answered already, i guess the prevalent answers are:

1.) superscore

2.) postmarked

3.) top two SAT IIs, the writing portion of the SATI does not count, but if you took the old writing sat ii, then that can count.
