Hi, I'm looking into Dartmouth for early decision.
It says that SAT II's aren't required for the ED app, so if I don't send them will I be at a huge disadvantage or does that just mean that Dartmouth pays little attention to it (close to nothing)?

Don't be lazy. Take the SAT II's.

I was done with all my SAT's the June of my Junior year. I think that's the best way to be, because you gotta worry about apps later.

I think what it says is that it's not required when you send in your application, but you have to take two of them by January or something.

would this be okay to do or is it frowned upon?

Are you sure the SATIIS aren't required? I'm pretty sure they are UNLESS you are submitting ACT with writing... Idk though. I'd call Admissions.

It's okay to do, but I personally see no advantage. Either you'll be taking an SAT for a class that you took over half a year ago, or you'll be taking an SAT for a class that you only had for four months.

HJ:

based on your other posts (gpa), I would NOT recommend ED anywhere. You will need to show a strong first semester senior year.

I didn't have to send Dartmouth my midyear report.

While you do not have to send them with your ED application, SAT IIs **are **still required to send them.

All applicants to Dartmouth, including those who apply from foreign countries, are required to take the following:

Either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I) or the examination of the American College Testing Program (ACT).

Please Note: Students may submit scores from either the old SAT I or the new SAT I (with writing). Similarly, students may submit scores from either the regular ACT (if taken prior to February 2005) or from the ACT with writing (if taken in February 2005 or after).

Any two SAT II Subject Tests.
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is strongly encouraged for foreign students for whom English is not the principal language of instruction and for non-native speakers of English. TOEFL is given at centers throughout the world and must be taken early enough so that the results are reported to Dartmouth by January of the year of intended entrance.
All testing must be completed by January of the senior year in high school. If standardized testing is repeated, the Admissions Committee only considers your highest scores. Information and test registration forms may be obtained from your high school guidance office or by writing to the College Board or the American College Testing Program. Dartmouth's College Board number is 3351, and the ACT code number is 2508.

Standardized Testing

Keep in mind the ED pool is very competitive (probably more considering the fact that there are a lot of hooked applicants- Athletes, developmental admits, legacies) in the ED pool. I think that you should take any advantage you have in giving the school a full picture of you (if it means submitting the SAT IIs when you apply then do so).

Since score choice is no longer an option any SAT II test you have taken, those scores are going to be automatically sent when you send your SAT I scores.

bluebayou:
I understand that ED is very competitive, but many kids in my high school with a weak GPA (3.3 UW and slightly below), with no involvement in extracurriculars (because of school's context) have been accepted to Dartmouth. The Dartmouth alumni at my school do encourage that I apply ED also. Thanks for the suggestion though.
