I'm fully aware that my SAT and SAT II scores are both decent and many people advise me to not retake them at all, but I would like to at least attempt to raise one of them in October and the deadline to apply before late fees are added ends in... ah, an hour (oops). If anyone happens to be lurking around these forums at this time, please help me decide.

I've taken the SAT twice. Superscored, I've gotten 2360 with 800 M, 800 W, and 760 CR. Normally scored, it's a 2350 with a 10 point drop in math. I did not make the National Merit cuts for my PSAT, so I really want to redeem myself with my SAT.

For SAT subjects, I've taken Biology M, Math II, and Spanish for scores of 790/760/680. I've given up on retaking Spanish, but I really want to retake Math II because my percentile is so low and I know my main issue was just time management. Biology I want to retake as well simply to see if I can achieve an 800. It's honestly just to soothe my tendency for perfectionism - otherwise I just feel unsettled).

Which should I retake in October?

Ahh, too late now to change my test without adding on additional fees, but I’d still like to know people’s opinions on this and whether or not I should still ultimately change anything in the end.

Don’t retake any of them. You will look score focused, which can negatively affect your application. Dont pay attention to percentile- its the scaled score that matters.

If you really want to take them again, do what you think is best. However, those are obviously all very high scores (maybe with the exception of Spanish, which is still fairly high).

I don’t think you should re-take any of those (except possibly Spanish). Colleges don’t like to see kids retaking tests they already have excellent scores on looking for the perfect 800. If you have another subject that you could do better in than Spanish, it might be worth taking a different subject test, if you will be applying to any scores that want 3 subject tests. But overall my advice is stop taking tests. No school is going to care if you have a 2400 instead of a 2360. For schools where you’d need scores in that range, test scores are not enough. Yours are plenty high to get you “in the door” already, and raising them won’t help. Work on the other parts of your application.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your input! (Though I find it funny that I only received a bunch at a time AFTER it was too late to change my decision to take the SAT, haha.)

I’m just trying to take subject tests that are related to the area of study I want to focus on, so I gave up on Spanish the moment I saw my AP score and my subject test score. AP Spanish was somewhat of a struggle for me last school year, so I really don’t want to deal with anything involving foreign languages unless I have to. I might actually change one of my subject tests to US or world history to seem more well-rounded if I have time to study for it, but I highly doubt it.

Retaking either SAT test is more for my own personal satisfaction to see how far I can push myself (or how lucky I can get) more than to impress colleges, by the way. I know colleges choose from their pool of applicants holistically, but I’m just personally fixated on scores and numbers, and I get satisfaction from seeing them.

Can someone tell me if those colleges that require you to report all of your ACT/SAT scores also require you to do the same for SAT II? Because that would’ve definitely been a factor in whether or not I would retake the SAT II if I knew about it beforehand…

Here is what Stanford says: <a href=“Standardized Testing : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University; Look at the schools web sites. They are usually very clear.
