Quick question about science course on IGETC.

Hello, I have a quick question about IGETC. To be more specific I go to De Anza.

I’m wondering if anyone knows about “Area5: Physical & Biological Sciences (9-12 qtr. units)”.

I took Physics 10 and Biology 10, which are listed on the official IGETC course outline thing.

But there is a star right next to those two courses and it says, “Indicates that transfer credit may be limited by either UC or CSU or both”.

I’m not really sure what that means. Does anyone know anything about this? I just want to know if I’m meeting the requirements for the IGETC certification. I tried to see a counselor but it has just been crowded these past few weeks. I’ll try again soon though.

Thanks in advance!

^ maybe it’s because they’re both intro courses. to be honest i think you should be fine? you should ask your counselor. perhaps because of its similarity they might not transfer both credits?

I think you should be fine as far as IGETC certification goes. But ask your counselor if they can tell you what UC’s and CSU’s may not accept the course.

Hey, I have the answer for you (I asked a De Anza counselor about this last spring)! It just means you wil not get credit for the course if you took a higher level physics or biology course before you took these classes. I’m assuming you didn’t, so you will be fine.
