quick question, please look, gpa question, should take 2 sec

hi,

it doesn't matter which college, but for an example: at USD

USD: Admissions: Undergraduate Admissions: Applying to USD: General Freshman Academic Requirements

When evaluating transcripts we use a weighted GPA giving students credit for any honors, AP, or IB classes. The average GPA for Fall 2007 entering freshman was 3.76.

does that mean all my honors class get a weighted grade? i took 4 honors classes that did not get counted as "UC honors classes". this would significantly raise my gpa. so my question is, about USD, and other colelges in general, do they weight all honors classes, or just like "UC approved"? if they allowed all, then my gpa goes up like .5 haha. it better be! please help me. thanks!

someone please look!!

bump bump 12

Nope. It's not weighted unless it's an official AP or IB sanctioned class/school.

really? well it says all honors, but UCs say honors too but only their approved honors. can i get some more input on this?

if USD says it weights honors classes, it weights honors classes. it is separate from the UC system and will evaluate you by its own set of standards

cool. thanks. but i know that. but will it weight all honors classes, or will it only weight California UC approved honors classes? even though our HS is one of the best public in CA, and API = 10. all the sophomore honors classes are not UC weighted, I am wondering if those classes would have weight at USD.

my guess is that yes, they would have weight because your school gives them an honors designation

Yes, it will weight all honors classes (a common policy for private schools). It is completely separate from the UC system, which have a different method of weighting grades.

oh sweet! that means my 10th grade last year = 2.9 unweighted, 3.0 UC weighted, and 3.5 private weighted. that's ownage!! that really brings my hopes up of getting into a good school. thanks!

and there not like UCs and only weight 8 semesters, they weight 'em all right. sweet! college here i come!

would a freshmen honors class add weight to overall gpa for privates.

so any more input? so really for most privates they use 9-11 and weight all honors and AP? that helps a lot!
