quiet place to study?

Where are the best places to study on campus?
I live in Hedrick Hall, and the study rooms are always in use. Also, I am not interested in powell lib because you must have two in order to reserve a quiet room. How about Rieber's quiet rooms? Anywhere else? Other libraries perhaps? Keep in mind I live in Hedrick, and would love to keep the walking distance to a minimal (my luck's against me on this one!)

You don’t have to get a study room at powell… it’s quiet enough at the tables.

Otherwise, management library (you can’t use pods though) & law library are awesome.

Powell is closed on weekends anyway…
I’ll check out the other libraries though, thanks

are both libraries open to all students?

What are the library hours?

[UCLA Library | Hours | Hours | Hours](http://www.library.ucla.edu/about/hours.cfm)

Also check out the Boelter computer labs, if you’re an engineering student. No books, but they have computers if you need them, and they’re really quiet and have lots of desk space.

I have a class in Schoenberg and I have an hour gap on Fridays. I stopped by the music library and it was pretty quiet in there, but it’s rather small. I doubt they would STOP you from going in if you’re not a student or fit a certain criteria.

Are undergrads allowed to come in anytime the law library is open? Or is it restricted?

As long as you have proof of a valid UC id (i.e. Bruincard), then you’re set.

I’m there right now.

Music Library (Schoenberg) is usually empty.
Bottom floor of YRL has been renovated. Check that place out. (It’s near Bunche and the Sculpture Garden and Northern Lights). The other 4-5 floors of YRL (Charles Young Research Library) are musty and old but it’s dead quiet…

^I agree with that comment. YRL is dead quiet. My roommate was studying there one time while she was sick, so had the sniffles and was sniffing a lot. A guy then approached her and then asked her to stop sniffing. I think YRL is the best place to study, but it’s kind of far.

The Science libraries are also quiet, too, since people don’t really go to them.

I actually think the Management Library is kind of loud at times, since some of the students at the Management school have to talk for whatever they do in the pods. But it has the best hours now and it’s really new and nice. And it’s also pretty close compared to other libraries on campus if you’re coming from Hedrick.

You can also always get ear plugs, too.

If you are referring to SEAS lab, it’s hardly quiet during class hours. People talking, walking around, talking on the phone, printing, etc. Only past 9PM does it get quiet …

Are there ghosts there?

How bout a good place to nap? North Campus that is…

Good places to nap:
The hill around Janss steps
Kerckhoff upstairs lounge
Sculpture garden
Powell

Yeah there are ghosts there. . . called graduate students.

EMMELINE O.O
you’re back!!!

Are you a grad student now, qipao?

no no i’m not. applying to jobs right now – particularly some teaching opportunities in east asia and france
