Quit my Job?

Hey guys,
So I recently got a job at a tutoring center nearby, as I wanted to do something worthwhile this summer besides just shut in my room all day studying for SAT (that kinda drains you a little). When I got the job though, my boss told me that this wasn’t just a summer job, and wanted me to work during the school year as well. I wasn’t thinking and told her that I could handle it. Well, looking at other friends’ experiences and asking many people, they told me my courseload (6 APs) is too much to have while having a job. Granted, I told my boss that I would probably only work 2 days a week (minimum for teens working there), but is that even too much?

I know I sound like I’m rambling, but i need some advice on whether I should quit in August before school or try and balance it with my workload. I dont really want to “wait and see” because I don’t want to be half-committed to something. Does anyone have a similar experience to mine? Thanks.

Yes I have had the same experience where I only wanted a summer job but my employer told me I would also need to work during the school year. I didn’t want to work during the school year, but I decided to wait and see. I think that is the best way to do it. Try working the minimum 2 days a week for the first couple weeks during the school year, and if it is too difficult, then quit. I decided not to quit before school started because I felt as if that would not be fair to my employer if I didn’t give it my best shot. It ended up not working out, and I then quit. I would advise you to do the same, but make the decision that is best for you.

I think you are right, I’m just too impulsive and want things right now to be solved lol. Thanks for the advice!

I agree…give it a shot. You will have to be very efficient with your studying. Other kids may have sports or band that takes up their time…you have this job.
