So I’m the main cook at a Kilwins candy store and I’ve worked there since May 2013. I started making minimum wage as a cashier/ice cream scooper and quickly made my way up to a cook where I make decent money for a high school student. The problem is I absolutely hate my job. It gets so dreadfully boring that I feel like I might collapse. I recently got another job just part time valet parking at a fancy restaurant, and I absolutely love it and I make an outrageous amount of money for someone my age. I’ve already decided I’m not working at kilwins next summer and intend to work full time at the restaurant. The problem is my boss turns against nearly everyone who quits no matter how good of an employee they were, and I’ve been one of her top employees since she hired me. I’m planning on working through the school year then quitting, so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on how to quit without making my boss completely hate me? I would love to use her as a reference when I apply to college and other jobs but if she turns against me then I shouldn’t. I know this isn’t exactly a school issue but I’m a high school student and this is a problem that kind of stresses me out.
