I was wondering if someone could point out the similarities and differences of English N1A and College Writting R1A?

Which is harder? What do they specifically do in each, I mean do they read and write essays analyzing aspects of the novel? I would prefer not to study anything involving bibliography format.

Also since I am an engineering major I really prefer numbers than letters so I really want to get over with R&C b/c I have to so I really would prefer the easier course where is more feasible for someone in my situation to get an A. Which has less workload and perhaps more reading than writting.

I understand English N1A doesn't fulfill the UC Entry Level Writing requirement and I will have to take the test on September, so is it worth taking it and waiting to take English on spring?

I’m planning on doing English N1A in the summer and then R1B in the fall, to get my English over quickly. I’m not sure if you have to take two in the same path (no one that I’ve talked to has said otherwise) as in N1A and N1B, though.

I don’t know what R1A-B entails, but N1A seems to be about analyzing novels with a unifying theme, and doing a lot of reading and writing.

According to my friends, college writing R1a was torture. It’s not like college writing is exactly easier either because they expect you to be at the same level once you’re done in both classes. I would take English R1A if possible.

I did English N1B last summer. It was a really small class, only about 14 people by the end of it. There were 3 essays total and the rest of the grade was just participation. It’s really pretty easy.
