I ended my junior year with around 3.72 cumulative GPA (i say around because my report card isn't arrived yet). I'm thinking about applying early to colleges like cornell and other good schools. I was wondering if this raise in GPA is possible if I almost ace my senior first semester, which will commence in about a month.

My school counts credits like this. U have to take 7 credits per year, while senior year you can take 6 credits. So total would be 7 X 3 + 6 = 27

A = 4
B = 3
C = 2

and so on because im NOT going to get anywhere below that. (Ap version of A is 4.3, so it's a little bit higher for Ap's)

^^ I lol’d. Yeah, some things just aren’t possible. If you raise your test scores, which is possible, than you can have a better shot. Shoot for the possible and just try to do your best from now on, no matter what you end up with.

Shouldn’t we have thought of this prior? Is it really that big of a deal? OMG .2903904239080234902349 away from a 4.0, I’m gonna post a thread about it.

Your applications will go out with your 6th semester GPA - senior year will only show up on the mid semester report. Do your best senior year, it could help you get off the waitlist, form an appeal etc. But in the meantime - get the best test scores possible and don’t dwell on the past. Stay in engaged in your EC’s and write the best essays that you can. Enjoy senior year!

It depends on what your other semester grades are. To calculate the overall GPA you take the average of each semester. Before my junior year I had a 3.7 then after getting a 4.0 the entire year I brought it up to a 3.8. But also, I had 9 classes. 5 first semester and 4 second (you’re supposed to have 8 but I took a 0 hour class).

thank you guys for encouragement i will do my best and get into my dream school! I think my ECs are fine, I got some service clubs and earned a medal for nice hours of service, also in varsity swimming and had an internship in hospital so i guess these can distinguish me from the applicants yeah?
