Rant about your roommate here!

I had expected something longer. My friend goes to another school and they asked 200 personal questions, like your sleeping schedule and stuff like that. I had expected the same, but nope. I'm so glad I got good roomates because some people I know at BU really got screwed over.

Mine was a white trash, country music listening alcoholic, who had I stayed at BU any longer likely would've killed me.

Awh geez, that's terrible. Now I'm worried about what next year will bring.

Yeah, I'm in the process of filling out my housing app as we speak (just now got the cash for the deposit & fee [$150]).

They ask what dorm we want to live in (there's three, and we have to list our order of choices), and they give us a 4" line to "list the characteristics or names of roommate preference"

I don't care; I attached a page with some traits on it and wrote on the line to see Attachment 1. Hey, I'll have to live with this person! A few words on a 4" line won't cut it :P

anyway . . . on with the rants.

wow... and you know what... I bet people at that school have roommate issues also.

I think mine was like, 6/7 questions... most importantly when you go to bed.

... and the other most important question that isn't really asked, IMO, is: what temperature you like it to be when you are sleeping? I can't sleep at all when the room is hot =/

My roommate is Mary Poppins. By that I mean not only is she practically perfect in every way, if I ever need anything at all she just pulls it out from her bookshelf or closet or from under her bed. Seriously, girl is amazing. I'm a little bit (a lot) in love with her. We're not really friends, we don't usually hang out or go to dinner together or anything, but we get along really amazingly well because basically we're the same person.

last year i had one iffy, one good roomie situation. first roommate was great at first but was a little "off" would always type furiously on AIM and laugh out loudly. watched greys anatomy constantly on her laptop and never really left the room after the first month a half. said/did really awk things sometimes. towards the end of the semester we would never say anything besides for hey and see ya later. she told me she was transferring 3 days before the semester was over.

2nd roomie moved from the other campus cause of roommate issues. she talked in her sleep sometimes which was hysterical. she would have daily loud conversations with her best friend but otherwise we got along great. we had completely different friends, but had awesome conversations while in the room and still keep in contact even though we dont live with eachother anymore.

roomate this year is good on the whole. its a little different cause i acutally live with 7 girls but i do have 1 direct roommate. shes in a signing group so the constant singing does get on your nerves when you want to watch tv/do work but eh its tolerable. and she leaves her **** everywhere in our suite but so do i. she has a new bf and hteyre adorable and i like him but htye are soooo overly PDA its like ugh get a room. only been sexiled 2 times in a month so thats perfectly fine with me. the singing is deifnetly the most annoying. and of course with 8 girls living together there are clashes everyday and annoyances butn othing drastic yet.

You're right, no matter how many questions they ask, you'll still have issues, but at least it's a lot less random.

I'm an MSN junkie. I have a friend I talk to all the time on MSN and I watch the Colbert Report a lot, so I laugh out loud. I wear headphones so I don't bother my roomates...but I can't stop the giggles.

Well atleast you guys didn't have a roomate that had mental instability and turned himself into the police before he could hurt me and others on my floor. After about a week of totaly not knowing what was going on (thanks university for being so informative) they told me that my roomate had to leave the school. Then after I had the room to myself for about a month, some random guy knocks on my door with all his stuff at 11:00PM telling me that he is my new roomate (thanks RA for not even telling me that I was getting a new roomate/when he was coming). The guy lives basically 24/7 in the room, wears the same clothes every day, doesn't take showers, and has hair down to just above his butt. TOP THIS PLEASE!!!!!!!

^holy #$%&

Alright, will do.

My friend had a double to himself, and suddenly gets a knock on a door from a dude claiming he's a new roommate. He moves all his stuff in and proceeds to get high. He smokes all sorts of crap on a daily basis without much consideration for my friend. Then he proceeds to leave stuff all over the floor, and brings random girls home and makes them sleep in the common room when they're done doing their thing. Note my friend's bed is in the common room.

The first day this new guy moved in, he also tried to hook up with a girl in our circle of friends after getting her drunk. This dude also supposedly rarely bathed, and drank often.

Basically, nobody liked this guy. He was later removed from the room because he was cheating on his tests and wasn't really supposed to even be back at school in the first place.

Man, you guys do have some crappy roomates.

My one roommate doesn't talk when my other roommate and I talk to her. When I walk into the room and say hi or say "God bless you" when she sneezes, she doesn't say anything. But randomly, she'll burst out saying things when I'm doing homework or can't talk. She doesn't wear shoes in the shower or to the bathroom and proceeds to step on my other roommate's desk to get up to her lofted bed. She keeps her uncovered toothbrush by her shoes. Her hair is everywhere, and I'm constantly cleaning up after both of my roommates. She pretends that she's asleep but she's really listening to her iPod until way late in the night and STARING at us when we sleep. She likes to sit in her chair and just stare. It's wonderful.

My other roommate is really great, except she keeps the door wide open when she comes in and says "Good luck" to everything. For example:
Me: I'm going to go to class now.
Roommate: Good luck.

Me: I'm going to go do laundry.
Roommate: Good luck.

Me: I'm going to dinner now.
Roommate: Good luck.

my roommate's really cool
but he just needs to tone down his PDAing with his gf...

Ew...

I'm applying to New College of FL and on the roomate matching form they ask you to choose 1 to 5 indicating how comfortable you would be rooming with a non-vegetarian. ;)

Assuming you're NOT a vegetarian, you should mark 0/1 and see what happens!

(Let us know end of your 1st semester)

Yeah, OK. She'll complain to the RA cause she thinks I'm going to eat her at night. lol.

Question for those who have roomates (because I'm only a lowly high school senior), how much privacy do you get? As far as changing and showering and stuff? I'm not a huge prude or anything, I just want to know so I can know what to expect, learn to take shorter showers if necessary, etc.

It depends. My room has a private bathroom because it used to be a hotel. In the morning, we all go in order depending on who has the latest class. The one with the earliest class that day showers first and so on so privay isn't an issue. I have two roomates and I've never seen any of them shirtless or anything like that. However, some of my friends live in another dorm where the floor shares a large bathroom because the rooms don't have any bathrooms. Then she has to change in her room and it feels awkward for her.

Haha HoJo? Nice. I was in West. It's a dump except for the dining hall. Communal bathroom wasn't awful though. I just changed in the bathroom, which TBH was kind of a pain in the ass.

Yeah I'm in Hojo's. It's freakin' awesome here. It's so incredibly quiet and convinient to live here. It's not far from CAS, which is where all my classes are. I stayed in West for orientation and I agree, it's a freakin' dump.

Yeah it is. They should have cheaper board rates for West, because it's highway robbery.
